One of my all time favourite sewing pattern is the Charm Patterns Night and Day dress!
Here you will find a selection of my different versions of the Night and Day dress that I’ve made, including my wedding dress, the dress I wore for Christmas 2024 and a lovely gingham version which is one of my favourite dresses to wear everyday.
Leopard print cotton for spring
I have never before really considered wearing leopard print. But that all changed ahead of the spring 2025, but I saw this beautiful fabric. I thought that if I was going to wear leopard print, I might as well do it full out. So I turned to my trusty Night & Day dress pattern for the bodice, Turner Cardigan (also Charm Patterns) for the sleeves and gathered a double circle skirt for maximum fullness. I’m so happy with how it turned out and it’s already been worn so much.

My wedding dress!
I think this goes without saying, but this is my favourite sewing project! I’m so proud over how it turned out and that I dared to try and make it myself. It really reflects who I was as a person at the time of the wedding as well. The fact I made this dress two weeks before the wedding as well, without feeling stress. Not even sure how I did it, now that I look back on it.
Now I just need to figure out reasons for wearing more wedding dresses, as I will not accept that I only get to wear one once! That is just not fair…

Witches dress
This didn’t start out as a witches dress, but rather as a simple black dress. The sleeves are from the Mariner Blouse (Charm Patterns), bodice is the Night and Day dress and the sleeve is a rectangle, gathered only around the side seams. It was quite tricky to make the darts look nice for this fabric, and I made it fairly early into my sewing journey, but I think it still looks lovely and is a perfect black dress for many occasions.

Black floral dress with border print
When I saw this print, I immediately bought 6 metres. It has such a gorgeous floral print with flowers on it and it was an instant yes from me. I wanted this to be a go-to everyday dress which still looked elegant, so the Night and Day dress pattern for the bodice it was. The skirt is a gathered 6 metre rectangle, it has pockets and I managed to incorporate the border print, which I wasn’t anticipating. Good thing I noticed it before I cut in to the fabric.

Hopeful Hearts ruffle dress
I saw this ruffle hack over on Rosery Apparel’s pages and was so curious to try it. You basically cut open your dress when it’s nearly finished, to insert the ruffle. Absolutely terrifying process. But it turned out so cute! This fun fabric from Minerva x Tammy Handmade was the perfect pairing for the ruffle. I think I could also make this work if I ever wanted to be a fun clown for Halloween.

Gingham Night and Day dress with collar
One of my most worn dresses is this lovely gingham one. It was my first time trying the Night and Day dress square collar and I love how it turned out. I also adore this fabric and need it in every colour. I wore this dress the night before my wedding, and already felt so beautiful in it. The skirt is a circle skirt and the sleeves are from the Turner Cardigan (Charm Patterns).

Christmas 2024
For Christmas 2024 I wanted a simple dress that I could wear not just for an occasion but everyday as well. I found this lovely burgundy viscose challis and instantly thought it would look lovely with the Night and Day dress. I wore it with a pair of stays for Christmas which matched really well too.
